Original Items: One-of-a-kind Set. In 1944 in and around Washington, DC, an innovative new spy agency known as the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) took over national park sites to set up a first-of-its-kind spy school. Thousands of German Enemy Prisoners of War (EPWs) were housed in camps throughout the United States often within plain view of American civilians. Some of these camps utilized National Park sites due to readily available facilities. Thousands of German soldiers were kept in the United States and returned to Germany after the fall of the Third Reich.

This uniform is from a German Enemy Prisoners of War held in the United States during World War Two. The uniform consists of a typical German M42 wool tunic with five button front and four pockets. The condition is solid but it shows with lots of wear, stains, repairs and patches. Size of the tunic is approximately a US 38. The reverse is painted with a white PW for Prisoners of War. Also included is cotton pants with a black PW stencil across the front legs.

Genuine U.S. WWII German Enemy Prisoners of War material is exceptionally rare and hard to find. A fantastic uniform from a little known part of American World War Two history.
